Shinali accused of favouring outsiders

All is not well for Ikolomani MP Ben Shinali. The MP is accused of awarding tenders to outsiders and not involving others in participation.
A one Peter Lavatsa who has roots in Maragoli but has built a house in Lurambi constituency is said to be favoured by the MP. Reports say Shinali has awarded construction works to Lavatsa firm running into millions of shillings.
From the two projects, the MP is said to have been paid a cool Sh3 million in advance. The work involves construction block at two schools in the constituency.
Lavatsa has also been awarded road works in the constituency. Another work is to build a two storey building at Eregi Girls’ has also been given to a Bukusu friend. It is said, Shinali only consults his cousin also an elected MCA in his dealings.
Using his links in DP William Ruto office, Shinali, a Form Four dropout of Lubinu Secondary had his late cousin Vincent Shiraho who recently died in a road accident appointed by Uhuru Kenyatta as a parastatal board member. Shiraho perished in a road accident along Mombasa Road after celebrating with his friends after the appointment.
He rammed into a track at 5am while driving back to his residence in Syokimau. Until his death, he was information communications Technology manage at Postal Kenya.
Shinali defeated ODM candidate Vincent Mukhono in 2013 polls. For now he is a face Robert Ayisi who is under pressure from locals to go for Ikolomani seat.
Shinali, an underworld operative worked for an Asian firm which collapsed and brokered in illegal passport processing for foreigners including work permits. His wife Evelyn is th is the principal Shikoti Girls’ High School. The MP has decided to be sleeping at Shikoti to avoid his constituents. The school is in Lurambi constituency on the outskirts of Kakamega.
