Dead of Kisii now to rest in cemetery

Kisii county has acquired land for waste management and public cemetery which will see residents get high levels of sanitation standards, the chairman of the county assembly planning, housing, lands and urban development Pius Abuki has said.
Speaking at the assembly offices, Abuki who is the MCA for Kitutu Central ward said that they have followed all the required health requirements  so that the public cemetery does not border with residential houses as per the Abagusii traditional customary laws.
Abuki said that the county was in the process of acquiring all municipal houses which had been taken over by the former civic leaders who have leased them out and were being paid rent which should be going to the county account.
The MCA said that the county was in the process of putting solar-powered lights in major towns like Nyamataro, Nyakoe, Mosocho, Menyinkwa and Bobaracho among other areas so that they can improve security and promote the area’s economic base.
He pointed out that Kitutu Central ward which covers almost three quarters of the Kisii Central business district has improved the road network, construction of the administration ward offices at Nubia area and constructed a modern dispensary at Kiamwasi.
The MCA has also helped to install water tanks at Kiongongi primary and secondary schools, construction of early  childhood classrooms at St Joseph’s Nyabururu, Kiwamwasi and Daraja Mbili primary schools and construction of a borehole at Kainyabinge Primary School.
