HOW CITY SEC SCHOOL PRINCIPAL TRIED TO RAPE A COLLEGE STUDENT

A college girl has claimed that the headmaster of a city secondary school attempted to rape her. Twenty-year-old Judy Wanjiru is recovering from stab wounds on her chest allegedly inflicted by Meshack Kimathi who allegedly attempted to rape her on September 19 at the principal’s Ruai home.

But Kimathi, the principal of Muhuri Muchiri School has denied any wrong doing, accusing Wanjiru of lying. He told The Nairobian that Wanjiru attacked him with a kitchen knife that was hidden in her trousers. “She is the one who stabbed me in the back. In fact, I am receiving treatment at the Aga Khan University Hospital. She just wants to tarnish my name because I am a public figure,” Kimathi claimed.

The two who appeared to know each other well, gave contradicting accounts of what led to the 6.30pm fight at the headmaster’s house. Kimathi describes Wanjiru as a close friend, but denied they have had any affair. Police told The Nairobian they have preferred charges against Kimathi, whom Wanjiru’s family say was never arrested, despite harming their relative.

A senior officer, who asked not to be named, said “some technicalities” have delayed criminal proceedings against Kimathi who wants Wanjiru to be arrested instead. Wanjiru claims Kimathi lured her into his car as she was heading to her Catholic church for evening prayers. He then drove her to a homestead and attempted to wrestle her to the ground, but she resisted.

“He then held my neck and tried to strangle me,” said Wanjiru, who was accompanied by her mother, Eunice Wanjiku. Wanjiru claims she was wrestled to the ground, but managed to fight her aggressor by hitting him with a stone on the forehead. Wanjiru further claims Kimathi then drew a penknife and stabbed her before fleeing from the scene, leaving her unconscious.

She was admitted to hospital for a week after sustaining a cut that required stitches in the chest and a swollen eye. The senior officer involved with the case asked Wanjiru’s family to be patient, promising Kimathi will be taken to court before October 13. The officer claimed the investigation had dragged due challenges in tracing witnesses.

Kimathi, however, denied having been with Wanjiru in his car, saying the woman ambushed him at his house. He promised to produce medical documentation to prove that he was the victim of assault. “I have recorded a statement over the incident. Anybody can say anything they wish, ask the police for accurate details,” the principal said.
