ward rep Nzuki Wambua is in trouble after irate parents of Itulani Primary
School in Lower Yatta, Kitui county, banned him from participating in the
school’s activities until he honours a pledge he made that he would donate beds
and mattresses to the school.
Led
by the Parents Teachers Association chairman Thomas Musyoka, they accused the
politician of making false promises to get votes during campaigns but never
fulfilled them. They have now stopped him from accessing the school until he
donates the beddings.
“We
are no longer going to entertain leaders who give lip services for political
expediency,” said Musyoka. He has vowed to lobby among parents and other voters
to vote out the MCA in 2017.
According
to the parents, the MCA had during the campaigns visited the school and
promised to make the institution a low-cost boarding school and promised to
provide boarding facilities but to date, he has not even set foot in the
school.
According
to the school’s headteacher Mutuku Nzoka, the parents had wished to have the
children board but the school still lacks boarding facilities.
But
the MCA in a quick rejoinder, said: “I did not pledge beddings for the entire
school. My conscience is clear. I only promised to buy mattresses and beds for
bright pupils in upper classes”.
